There are vast realms of consciousness still undreamed of
vast ranges of experience, like the humming of unseen harps,
we know nothing of, within us.
Oh when man has escaped
from the barbed-wire entanglement of his own ideas
and his own mechanical devices
there is a marvellous rich world of contact and sheer fluid beauty
and fearless face-to-face awareness of now-naked life
and me, and you, and other men and women and grapes,
and ghouls, and ghosts and green moonlight
and ruddy-orange limbs stirring the limbs of the unknown air,
and eyes so soft, softer than the space between the stars.
And all things, and nothing, and being and not-being alternately palpitate,
when at last, we escape the barbed-wire enclosure
of Know-Thyself, knowing we can never know,
we can but touch, and wonder, and ponder,
and make our effort and dangle in a last fastidious fine delight
as the fuchsia does, dangling her reckless drop of purple
after so much putting forth and slow mounting marvel of a little tree.

Clearly, the beauty and love we can share together, as human beings, can reach into realms of the divine and change us forever. We appreciate those moments, or if we are lucky, longer periods of being in that kind of connection with another.

Generally, we value it for our selves personally, but most of us don’t consider being connected in that way as culturally significant.  Many teachers, evolutionary thinkers and luminaries agree that in the past 10 years or so an opening has occurred, an evolutionary readiness is here for us to create a new way of being together – a higher order or human relatedness.

As life evolves through succeeding orders of complexity, consciousness increases.  Teilhard de Chardin, Jesuit priest and paleontologist, saw that when different elements come together, like cells or molecules exchanging energy to form new wholes they bring into being ‘creative unions’ – that which has not existed before.  Beautifully, simpler forms connecting and sharing energy bond into higher forms with more complexity and consciousness.

Teilhard de Chardin called the energy they exchange “characteristic energy”.  This ‘characteristic energy’ is what allows them to make connections with each other and form ‘creative unions’.   The energy is what creates the bond between them.  “The New Being emerges from the connections and interactions of the composing units, and it constitutes a new level of oneness and wholeness.” said Beatrice Bruteau, now-deceased author who believes that we are in a unique time in history where a transformation in human consciousness is the next evolutionary step for existence.

The normal characteristic energy human beings share is what could be called  ‘egoic’.  This is the energy of being separate, competitive, self-concerned, selfish, protective, afraid, deceptive, deficient, aggressive or colored by various projections both positive and negative. We exchange the energy of desire, basic survival instincts of sexuality, social connections and working together to survive on various levels.

There’s nothing wrong with normal energetic exchange, but it will not give us access to the opening that is now here – the possibility to engage consciously on a higher level and create a ‘New Being’ of a higher order.  And more importantly – the awakening of the collective transpersonal field, what Teilhard de Chardin called the’ noosphere’, or the planetary mind-field, is the awakening needed that stands between us and global catastrophe.

Our choice –  to give ourselves to this endeavor – needs to be seen with the importance that it truly holds.

Increasing numbers of us are being drawn to consciously come together and share a different kind of energy.  We are learning to share the characteristic energy of truth, love, authenticity, and our essential nature.  Our coming together needs to be a consciously chosen mutual commitment to be in an ongoing relationship together.

We can be introduced to this consciousness in a weekend, doing particular practices together. But to actually create the energetic synapses and circuitry between us – we need time, focus and practice that is long term.  It’s an incredible gift to say yes to this opportunity.  We are at the dawn of a new consciousness that can be found together.

What is necessary is a commitment to forge relationships with those others who are willing to create a bond, a union that continues to evolve and exist.  We need each other to mutually give ourselves to each other, to consent to living from and being transformed by this ‘creative union’ that will in fact create a new consciousness in the world.

There are many capacities needed for this ‘higher level of human relatedness’.  Telepathic empathy, clarity and objectivity about one’s motivations and intentions, multi-dimensional sensitivity, awareness of object relations and filters that occlude being present to what is actually there (or aware of projections) and increased tolerance for depth and intensity.

By coming together, we have the vehicle to discover these capacities as well as have the power of what we are being transformed by, shifting our sense of identity and way of being in the world.

How to know if you are ready for this consciousness:

  • Do you experience a certain kind of existential loneliness?
  • Do you feel less inspired about autonomously creating ‘a life you love’?
  • Are you experiencing wanting to be alone rather than be with people where  the connection is more superficial, even though you don’t really want to be alone?
  • Do you feel tired of whatever you’ve been engaged in regarding your spiritual development?  Ready for something and not knowing what it is?

With appreciation,
Patricia
