During a workshop titled Beyond Me to We: Activating Our Highest Potentials Through Mutual Awakening one of the topics we explored was the power of longing and having faith in evolution. I thought you might enjoy a part of that teaching and wanted to share it with you here…
Opening yourself to longing activates powerful forces that will move your life and life itself towards higher possibilities of love and truth. Longing arises from a dimension that is deeper than your individual sense of self – deeper than your soul – deeper than just personal needs and desires. It arises from the unknown and comes through us into this world.
If you pay close attention, when you begin to feel the longing, you can sense that it’s a two-way affair. Something is longing for you and through you, and that is where the immense power (and beauty) lie. Below are some ways to help you further discover and be in full relationship with this quality of longing:
- Believe in the power of longing.
- Be willing to be inside the gap – the pain of knowing a deeper truth while not knowing how to achieve it. Tolerate the pain and helplessness in the gap.
- Surrender into the process of being shown how to evolve. Be open to what is being asked for and be willing to ‘grope’ your way into a new reality.
- Enter into actual unity with others, we need to be the collective receptors so the evolutionary impulse can move through us and reveal what is possible for our world.
Longing allows us to ‘grope’ our way forward and to be a vehicle for evolution. As we continue to open more fully to longing as a vehicle for transformation it’s essential that our consciousness up-levels to meet what we are longing for.
By discovering and staying close to your longing, you have the power to not only transform your own life and consciousness, but your capacity to directly participate in the evolution of life.
